How to Make the Most of Your Trade Show Booth

How to Make the Most of Your Trade Show Booth

Often when you arrive at a trade show to see that empty space with your business name on it, it doesn’t seem like much. The standard footprint doesn’t offer you a lot of yardage to spread out and get comfortable, and super-sized visuals aren’t always an option either. How can you stand out and get noticed in that space, when everyone else has the same space too?

Getting attention at a trade show is all about making the most of the space you’re given. This requires the right marketing visuals, attentive staff, and smart design. Planning ahead for your next event is also critical – if you just wing it when you arrive, your booth will look unplanned and haphazard. Show trade show visitors that you are professional and prepared, and they just might come in for a closer look – and find out what you have to offer!

1.  Pay Attention to the Specs in Advance

booth layout specsMany businesses attend a lot of different marketing events and trade shows. That doesn’t always mean you can bring a one-size-fits-all event booth with you. Trade shows vary greatly when it comes to the space and amenities offered to each business, so the display you used at one event may not work at all at the next one. Read all the materials the event sends you, and make note of the footprint you’re getting.

Obviously there’s no point in bringing your 14 foot banner to a trade show booth that’s 10’ x 10’. Also pay attention to other logistics – will they provide power to each booth? Or do you have to pay extra for that in order to use your laptop, tablet, or lighted display? Do they require flame retardant fabrics?

2.  Brand with Your Logo

Even if your budget limits you, focus your attention on getting economical visuals custom printed to show off your logo in a big, bright way. If you walk around at a trade show, you’ll see that most brands aren’t just displaying their logo in one or two places – it’s everywhere! Custom printing doesn’t have to break the budget, either – we offer many low-cost visuals with the highest quality full dye sublimation print. If you’re really concerned about keeping costs low, put your logo on your most noticeable visuals, like custom table covers, custom logo banners, carpets and media backdrops.

3.  Keep Staff Moving

Trade show staffEvent visitors will see a lot of booths with the standard setup – branded table out front, and staff sitting behind it looking bored. You can shake things up by changing this layout! Some of the most successful brands set their staff up outside the booth itself, in front where they can interact with passersby. As long as they’re polite and not an annoyance, this can be a great tactic.
