A quality custom tablecloth is an excellent way to advertise your brand, look more professional, and make a great impression at trade shows, conferences, and business events.
However, the fabric of the tablecloth is the foundation of its overall design. It determines the tablecloth’s quality, functionality, aesthetics, and longevity.
Polyester, a relatively inexpensive but highly durable fabric, is a top choice material for personalized tablecloths for many reasons. It’s:
- Wrinkle-free, ensuring your table remains neat and professional
- Reliable for outdoor events, thanks to its stain-resistant and flame-retardant properties
- Fade-resistant, your tablecloth won’t lose color when set up under the sun
The 1970s saw a massive increase in polyester’s popularity, thanks to how it was marketed—a miracle fabric that can be worn for 68 days straight without ironing, and still look presentable.
While this may be a far-fetched marketing strategy, polyester’s impressive qualities still make it one of the best fabrics for personalized tablecloths, as you shall see below.
Quality #1: They're Wrinkle-Resistant
Ironing your tablecloth before every event is tasking and time-consuming. But with a polyester tablecloth, you won’t have to worry about this.
Polyester is resistant to creasing and does not shrink at normal temperatures; that’s between 97 °F (36.1 °C) and 99 °F (37.2 °C).
During the manufacturing process, polyester is treated with a chemical resin that’s added directly to its surface or crosslinked with it at the molecular level. This enhances its crease recovery and makes it less prone to wrinkling or shrinking.
Its high recovery capacity ensures your tablecloth retains its original shape and dimensions even after multiple washes.
Polyester’s wrinkle-resistant quality provides multiple benefits to your personalized tablecloth:
- Saves time: No need for ironing; wash and use on your tables as soon as it dries
- Maintains shape better: Its strong resilience allows resistance to deformation (unlike cotton that gets compressed and extended), causing the tablecloth to return to its original shape
- Aesthetic and displays professionalism: Gives your tablecloth a clean, crisp professional look
- Low maintenance: No worrying about creases. Once you’ve set up, it will retain its shape throughout the day

Quality #2: They're Flame Retardant
Safety is as important as durability and quality when choosing a fabric for your personalized tablecloth; especially if your event venue has stringent guidelines.
When you’re hosting an event, the wind or an AC can accelerate the growth and spread of fire if there is an outbreak, resulting in major injuries and material losses.
Luckily, flame-retardant fabrics like polyester reduce such risks by slowing the spread of fire.
Flame retardants are chemically treated to reduce ignition or to self-extinguish when exposed to open flames.
There are two types of flame-retardant fabrics:
- Inherent flame-retardant fabrics: Have flame-retardant properties intrinsic to them. A scientifically enhanced yarn is woven into them to make them flame-retardant from the start.
- Coated flame-retardant fabrics: Naturally flammable fabrics that have been treated to reduce their flammability. However, the treatment wears off with use and washing, making them unsustainable.
Polyester is an inherent flame-retardant fabric. But since it’s plastic, it doesn’t ignite like natural fabrics, it melts instead.
So while it may be naturally flame-retardant, it still needs chemical treatment to make it effective and prevent it from melting.
MVP Visuals’ custom polyester tablecloths have undergone a special fabric treatment to make them coated flame-retardants - they're 16 CFR 1610 certified.
Quality #3: They're Versatile
Polyester can be manipulated in several ways to create a huge range of custom tablecloths.Â
The fabric’s versatility lies in its ability to blend with other fabrics. Blended materials maximize the strength of different fibers in a single tablecloth.
There are multiple variations of polyester tablecloths, all suitable for outdoor and indoor use.
The 600-denier polyester tablecloth, for instance, is sturdy, heavily structured, and can withstand harsh weather conditions, like strong winds, to keep your table setup intact.
Besides its durability, the 600-denier polyester tablecloth is fade-resistant. Like other high-quality polyester fabrics, it's designed to naturally hold on to color and resist fading whether in the sun or washing machine.
But if you’re looking for a tablecloth that snugly fits your table and is more durable than the typical spandex tablecloth, then the 240g stretch polyester tablecloth is for you.
The well-fitting nature of the 240g stretch polyester tablecloth makes it wind-resistant, keeping it in place and securing your products even in the strongest gusts.
Its design also makes it completely wrinkle-free, giving your table a sleek, professional look.
Our stretch polyester tablecloths come in three backing options, depending on your needs and preferences:
- Closed back: Perfect for an all-print design that gives your brand 360-degree exposure.
- Open back: Provides more storage and easy access to merchandise stored underneath the table. Ideal for events where you have to sit at the table.
- Zipper back: Perfect balance between open and closed back. Offers easy access to merchandise while maintaining a tidy 4-sided look when zipped up
In general, MVP Visuals offers endless variations of polyester personalized tablecloths. Here are some other options:Â

Quality #4: They Can Be Stain Resistant
A stain-resistant polyester tablecloth is the kind that has been enhanced using a liquid-repellant treatment that prevents drinks and spills from penetrating underneath and damaging your trade show or cocktail table.
A key advantage of a stain-resistant polyester tablecloth is its ease of maintenance. The treatment makes even the most stubborn stains, such as red wine and oils, easy to remove.
All you need to remove the stains is to rub them with a clean cloth, some warm water, and a mild soap for stubborn stains.
This makes the tablecloth a perfect choice for all your outdoor and indoor events where drinks, food, or ink may be spilled on your table.
However, not all manufacturers offer stain-resistant polyester tablecloths.
MVP Visuals aims to cater to every customer's needs. That’s why we provide both treated and non-treated polyester personalized tablecloths.
Our Liquid Repellent Polyester Table Cover contains a special coating that makes it repel stains and liquids.
The coating turns liquid drops falling on the fabric into spherical balls that slide off without wetting your tablecloth.
Stain-resistant polyester tablecloths are excellent for displaying liquids or drinks like water, liquid wash, and sodas. With these, anyone can sample your products, and you won’t have to worry about spilling, staining, or ruining your presentation.
But even if your polyester tablecloth is not coated with a liquid-repellent, our other polyester tablecloths are incredibly easy to wash and maintain.
