How to Set Up a Canopy Tent: Step-by-Step Visual Guide
Use two people to assemble the pop-up frame shown in MVP's demonstration. Start with the folded frame and matching top, attach the fabric before fully opening the frame, then lock the sliders and raise the legs.
The demonstration shows the Flash tent frame. Use the instructions supplied with your tent if its frame, locking parts or attachment details differ.

1. Lay out the frame, canopy top and equipment
Choose a flat, open area with enough room to expand the frame. Remove the folded frame from its carrying case and have the matching canopy top and required anchoring equipment nearby.
The demonstrated setup uses two people. Plan the work together before lifting or opening the frame.
2. Partially open the frame
Stand on opposite sides of the frame. Lift and separate the legs to about arm's length, as shown in the video. Keep the movement steady rather than yanking or twisting the frame.
If a part is not moving as expected, stop and check the supplied instructions instead of forcing it.
3. Position the canopy top
Place the fabric over the partially opened frame. Align the canopy's center peak with the center pole of the frame, then arrange the corners evenly.
Check which way your printed panels face before attaching them. Correcting the orientation now avoids having to undo the attachments later.
4. Attach the canopy corners
Connect the hook-and-loop strips at the corners of the canopy and frame, as shown in the demonstration. Check that the corners are aligned before opening the frame farther.
If your top has additional fabric straps or flaps, use its supplied fastening instructions. Check where each strap attaches on your own frame before fastening it.
5. Fully open the frame and lock the sliders
Stand across from one another. Lift the V-shaped part of the frame and step backward together until the frame is fully extended, following the demonstration.
Go to each corner and push the upper frame upward until the slider locks onto the leg. Check every corner before raising the telescoping legs.
If a slider will not lock, stop and check the frame position and its instructions rather than forcing the mechanism.
6. Raise and lock the telescoping legs
In the video, the two people stand at adjacent corners. Each places a foot on the base of a tent leg while extending the telescoping leg and locking it into place. Follow this demonstrated method for the frame shown.
Use the height positions and sequence specified for your frame. Check that the legs are locked and the canopy is level before moving on.
7. Secure the tent with the specified anchoring equipment
The demonstration finishes with ground stakes or weight bags. Use the anchoring equipment, attachment method and operating limits specified for your tent and site; assembling the frame does not establish how much ballast it needs.
