How to Wash and Care for Custom Table Covers

Follow the care label or instructions supplied with your table cover. If you cannot identify its fabric or finish, start with spot cleaning: blot spills, use mild soap and cool water, and let the cover air dry completely.

Check your cover before cleaning

Look at the sewn label and your order instructions for the fabric, print method and finish. Check for zippers, hook-and-loop fasteners, elastic, trim or other permanent components that may affect its care.

If the cover has a liquid-repellent or flame treatment, confirm how cleaning affects that treatment before washing it. Fabric weight alone does not tell you whether a cover is washable.

For a stretch cover, release it from every table foot before removal. Avoid pulling one corner while the rest of the cover is still stretched over the table.

How to clean spills and small marks

  1. Blot a liquid spill. Avoid rubbing it deeper into the fabric.
  2. Remove loose dirt. Use a soft cloth or brush.
  3. Test before treating the mark. Apply mild soap and cool water to an inconspicuous area first.
  4. Clean gently. Avoid abrasive scrubbing, bleach, solvents and direct heat on printed surfaces.
  5. Remove the soap residue. Use a clean damp cloth, then allow the cover to air dry completely before storage.

Can you machine wash a table cover?

Machine wash only when the sewn label or order instructions allow it. The fabric name alone is not enough to decide.

Stretch polyester covers

If the label or supplied instructions confirm machine washing, use a cold, gentle cycle with mild detergent and air dry. Otherwise, spot clean. A fabric name or weight does not confirm a cleaning method.

Non-stretch 300D polyester

A confirmed washable, uncoated 300D cover may allow a cold, gentle wash with mild detergent and air drying. If you do not know its coating, print method or permanent components, spot clean instead.

600D, coated or treated covers

Spot clean 600D, coated, liquid-repellent or flame-treated covers unless the label or order instructions allow another method. Confirm how washing affects a coating or treatment before putting the cover in a machine.

Dry the cover and pack it for storage

Air dry the cover completely before storing it. Use a dryer, iron, steamer or dry-cleaning process only when the order-specific instructions expressly permit it, and avoid direct heat on printed surfaces. Follow the same care restrictions when dealing with wrinkles.

Store the cover clean and fully dry. If you travel with several covers, label each storage bag with the size, style and booth or brand name so you can identify the right one at the next event.
